The Filipino-Chinese Heritage and Cultural Society, Inc., extends its best wishes and congratulations to the new officers of the Association of Philippine China Understanding (APCU). Elected during its General Assembly last Monday July 10 were:
Chairperson – Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo; Vice Chairman – Jesus Cham; President – Gabriel Lopez; External Vice President – Rachy Cuna; Internal Vice President – Raul Lambino; Treasurer – Letty Timbol; Executive Director – Jose “Pete” Arce, Jr.
The new APCU Board of Trustees also affirmed last year’s designation of FCHCSI President Peter Tiu Lavina as Head of APCU Davao/Mindanao.
APCU, which is promoting people-to-people diplomacy and good relations with China, will send a delegation to the ASEAN-China Youth Exchange Festival in Guandong, China on July 24-28, and in the ASEAN-China People-to-People Conference in Siem Reap, Cambodia on August 6-9.
The Filipino Chinese Heritage and Cultural Society, Inc. will hold its general assembly meeting on May 3 to elect new officers and plan programs and activities for the rest of the year.
Formed in 2004, FCHCSI pioneered in organizing the first Chinese New Year Festival in Davao City, which is now an annual city-government sponsored event. It aims to promote greater understanding and appreciation of Filipino Chinese heritage and culture and better people-to-people relations between the Philippines and China.
